...a bude hůř

...a bude hůř (Czech ''...It's Gonna Get Worse'') is a debut novel by Czech writer Jan Pelc. The background of the story is Check underground of 70'. It consists of three parts: ''Děti rodičů'' (Children of parents), ''Děti ráje'' (Children of Heaven), ''Děti cest'' (Children of roads).
Pelc's novel was first published in Cologne, in 1985 while the author was on emigration in Paris. Part of it was however previously published, in Czech magazine "Svědectví", which was being published in Paris. The book caused a fierce discussion in Czech emmigrant society and in Czech opposition - the reason being swear words and obscenity present in it. Pavel Tigrid, literary critic and publisher of "Svědectví", commented on these polemics: " In Among the opponents are also present supporters of liquidation - if not of the writer alone, for sure of his book. (...) They are warning young girls and the youth in general against reading this book, and the adults against the disgust that will flood them after reading just first few pages. To patriots they say that Czech wanna-be writer »own nest defiles« and abuses national pride. Some editors, usually claiming to be supporters of freedom of speech, published notes of which sense boils down to hope, that readers will understand why their magazines won't review Pelc's book."
In year 2007, the film version of the book was produced by Petr Nikolaev.
